嗨~ going home soon but let's catch up!
internship
so my internship at the Modern Women's Foundation 現代婦女基金會 just ended this last week. the day after we presented to the other students and their internship supervisors.
here's my ppt if anyone is curious:

my work in the office continued to be a lot of random busy work, but i did get a chance to travel with them two more times. the latest trip was to Ming Chuan University 銘傳大學 in taoyuan which neighbors taipei. MWF is Yves Saint Laurent's partner for their "Abuse is not Love" campaign and so our education department worked with them and a popular youtuber to present about signs of abuse in 親密關係 (close/intimate relations) to university students.
the most interesting event though was going to LINE taipei HQ. we worked with three artists and LINE to make huhu stickers that users can buy on the platform. huhu is a mascot of sorts. all the proceeds from that sticker pack will be donated back to the foundation and our work. not only did i get to see LINE HQ, but i also saw the artists' draw live and how a small film crew works.
LINE HQ is super cool and aesthetic, but ngl the open floor plan and games low key gave me the circle (i.e. google) vibes. there were so many people but they all had roles and knew it. it was more informal than i expected, but then again, i've never been on a set of any kind.
early 尾牙(weiya)
in our last internship class, the center teachers put on a 尾牙 celebration since we won't be here by the real time comes around. it used to be a religion-based celebration but now, especially in taiwan, it has become a way for companies to thank employees. companies host a big banquet and book performers. in our version, we tried snacks the teachers had during their childhood, played games and some classmates performed. (don't judge though because they didn't practice at all together and philip was playing on one of those roll-up piano toys for kids 😂)
holiday celebration
since it's about that time of year, the center here booked out a big space at a restaurant to try to mimic holiday vibes with us all together. it was a good effort but what makes the holidays for me is being with family. to me, it felt more like a end of capstone celebration. it was a good time though with the teachers and the majority of the students. i hadn't realized how many fall cohort students i don't know! us spring cohort students were way outnumbered with just 12 to their 70+. it was buffet style and since there was a stage, students put on performances (with the incentive of it replacing an essay haha).
the campus and some public areas are getting festive with lights though. on the pathway up to the dorms there are stars hanging from the trees and a christmas tree.
more music
this time, i went solo to indie, alt-pop alec benjamin's concert. i discovered him during the pandemic with his song "six feet apart" and i am in love with his storytelling. i found out later that my friend who lives here and another student also went. oh well, it was my first all GA concert and i gotta say my height was a disadvantage.

my americano, i'm fine. drink an americano and you'll be fine, have nothing to do? drink an americano

celebrating a friend's birthday🎉

加辣! (add spice!) with eva

臺灣漢服節 (Taiwan Hanfu Festival) in 西門町 (ximending)

a mural thrown up by the closest MRT station in a day or two. i swear i saw a guy priming the wall one night on the way home and then it was finished the next time i looked.

interesting fact:
~the candidates for elections here have big numbers on their ads. i asked a teacher about it and he said that it's mostly for people to remember who they're voting for. i guess numbers are easier? the ballot itself has both the number and the name
30 days left until i'm back. happy holidays to everyone and see you very soon

You'll be home in 4 days- I cannot wait! 😁I hope you're prepared for the biggest hug ever 🤗 and probably a flood of happy tears. 😭I read this post when you put it up but it was on my phone and I couldn't comment.- I pulled up your presentation for Mom and Dad, you look quite professional 🤓. Even though we can't interpret the content we are sure it was all top-notch and scholarly because that's how you roll. 🎓
The trip to Line looks awesome! Love the recording of your classmates sharing their talents at your celebration. At the holiday dinner/capstone capper, looks like your group are the only ones in the restaurant? Alec Benjamin concert looks packed…
Sophia! Every time I read this it seems like you are upping your fun experience! This post makes everything you have done look so fun and inspiring! Absolutely cannot wait for you to get back and to hear all your stories! We will miss you on Xmas but see you soon after! Love you! XOXOXO, Aunt Laura
